American Racing VN427s was the wheel of choice for a 1967 Chevelle that’s in the process of a pro touring makeover. The build was recently featured in Super Chevy magazine.
Owner Eddy Guillu told Super Chevy he originally bought the car in 1988 from customer of his father’s auto parts store who wanted to get rid of it. Guillu snagged it for $600 and a 1980 Plymouth Horizon trade-in.
After 29 years in the garage, the car is now destined for new life on the Optima Ultimate Street Car series, Guillu is working with Hot Rod Chassis and Cycles in Addison, Illinios, to get the job done.
The build plan features a mix of street and track inspired elements. The interior includes leather Recaro seats for driver and passenger, a Vintage Air system for comfort and RideTech TigerCage. A complete fire suppression system adds safety.
A full makeover gave the A-body fiberglass bumpers, an integrated spoiler and a custom front air dam. For paint, the team chose a 2009 Mitsubishi Maizen Blue with an off-white racing stripe and Chevy Orange accents. A set of American Racing VN427 wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber (245/40R18 front and 295/35R18 rear) complimented the look while maximizing handling capabilities.
When the project is complete, the vehicle is expected to produce just over 500 horsepower from its Chevrolet Performance supercharged 376 cubic-inch LSA engine.
