Ford and American Racing Win Big at the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic

June 3, 2025

In the shadow of Detroit’s storied skyline, the Ford Mustang GT3 roared to its first GTD PRO-class victory of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech Championship season. The No. 64 Ford Multimatic Motorsports Mustang, driven by Seb Priaulx and Mike Rockenfeller, delivered a dominant performance on Belle Isle’s tight, technical street course. It led 55 of the 81 laps and crossed the finish line just 1.6 seconds ahead of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, sealing a hard-earned win in the heart of American motorsport.

Starting from pole, Priaulx showed control and pace in the opening stint before handing the car over to Rockenfeller. The veteran driver held his ground under relentless pressure from the Corvette Racing team, navigating traffic and concrete barriers to keep the Mustang in front. The win snapped a streak of podium finishes by AO Racing and gave the Mustang GT3 program its most emphatic result to date.

This wasn’t just another win on the schedule. It was a homecoming moment for Ford, proving the strength of the Mustang platform in a city that helped define American performance. And for fans of racing heritage, it was a reminder of what makes the Mustang legacy endure.

American Racing has lived through every chapter of that legacy, from the glory days of Trans Am to today’s global GT platforms. The Mustang GT3 represents a new era, and the AR952 GT Street wheel gives everyday drivers a chance to connect with it.

Bring Racing Heritage to the Street

The AR952 GT Street brings the same spirit of competition you see on track into your daily drive. Its split 5-spoke layout takes inspiration from the AR724 used on the Mustang GT3, reimagined with clean lines and race-bred proportions. Built using Flow Formed Technology, the AR952 delivers strength without excess weight, giving drivers improved handling and responsiveness. The sculpted face also encourages airflow to high-temp brake components, making it a smart pick for aggressive builds or spirited weekend runs. It’s a street-ready wheel with serious motorsport pedigree.

As the Mustang GT3 continues to push boundaries in IMSA and beyond, American Racing will keep telling its story, on the track, in the garage, and on the streets where legends are made.
