Last weekend, American Racing had the pleasure of hosting a group of kids from Pacific Palisades Calvary Christian School’s 7th grade class at the 2018 Long Beach Grand Prix.

With former IndyCar racer and NBC Sports color commentator Townsend Bell as their escort, the kids toured the Indycar paddock, met with Firestone Racing engineers, race engineer Craig Hampson and IndyCar driver Sebastien Bourdain. The group then participated in an hour long classroom session to work through real-world math calculations relating to aerodynamics, spring rates, ride heights, and data acquisition and analysis.

The goal for the trip was to introduce a science and math based curriculum to the kids via racing. Something tells us these kids are going to be hooked on motorsports for years to come and will have renewed their interest in math and science.
