The Hot Rod Power Tour, hosted by Hot Rod magazine is a showcase of custom built hot rods. Car enthusiasts from all over the states come out to admire and appreciate the impressive show. Taking place over a seven day period in June, the tour traveled from Gonzales, Louisiana to Kansas City, Kansas with stops in Texas and Oklahoma in between. There were over three thousand drivers that made the complete tour with hundreds more showing up at each stop.
American Racing had the privilege of being the exclusive wheel of the 2016 tour. As both sponsors and participants, the AR crew loaded up a Sprinter van at the Buena Park headquarters and headed out to Louisiana to get ready for the first day of the tour. Following the Sprinter van was a supercharged 700hp Dodge Challenger from Rockstar Garage that would serve double duty traveling the scenic route between cities along the tour and as a showpiece in the booth. Each new city was an opportunity to show off some of the new wheels, interact with customers and handout swag including shirts, bottle openers, stickers, coasters, lanyards and pens.
Day three, the stop in Austin, Texas, was held at the Circuit of the Americas race track. The massive grounds allowed the vendors to set up their displays in front of the F1 garages. Along with our standard booth, American Racing sponsored the Autocross track complete with the Texas A&M car club tracking timing of participants and Michele Abbate calling the action.
Thanks go out to everyone that came by the booth and supported the brand. The interaction with participants and enthusiasts was great and we appreciate hearing first hand feedback at each stop. American Racing already misses being on the road (but not the weather) and look forward to next year’s Hot Rod Power Tour and seeing everyone again.
